Privacy policy
Upkeep is made by YOUR_NAME_HERE. This policy explains the app’s privacy practices in plain language.
No account or tracking
You do not need an account to use the app. Upkeep has no tracking or analytics, and it never uploads your files. Upkeep doesn't collect information about you; the requests below go straight from your Mac to the services named.
When the app goes online
Upkeep goes online only for these things:
- Checking your apps for updates. For each app, Upkeep asks where that app gets its updates: Apple's App Store lookup (sending the app's identifier), the Homebrew app catalog, GitHub, or the developer's own update feed. Those services see an ordinary web request asking about that app.
- Showing release notes, from the developer's or GitHub's page, when you open them.
- Your license. Activating, checking and deactivating your key sends the key and your Mac's name (so you can tell your Macs apart) to Lemon Squeezy.
- Process notes, once a day: one request for an updated copy of the notes Upkeep uses to explain what's running. Nothing about your Mac is included.
- Network checks, only when you run one in Fix a Problem: a request to the site you're testing and to a well-known site for comparison.
- Updates you choose to install are downloaded from the app's own source.
Payments and license keys
Payments and license keys are handled by Lemon Squeezy as the merchant of record. Its privacy policy applies to the information it handles during checkout and licensing. You can read Lemon Squeezy’s privacy policy for those details.
